How SoundFolder Works
SoundFolder is pretty simple. Right now, we're focussed on one goal: to build a high-quality system for hosting music tracks on the web.
We make the geeky technical work go away, so you can focus on the music.
Here's what happens when you publish a track:
- You log in to SoundFolder, or sign up if you haven't used SoundFolder before
- You choose one of your MP3 tracks from your computer, and upload it to SoundFolder (this takes a minute, but it's really easy)
- You can add some details about your track, such as the album name, track number, or genre
- We send your track to a world-class storage platform (built on systems powered by Amazon.com). Now, even if a bass amp falls on your laptop, your recording is safe.
- We make your tunes available through a global content distribution network. This network means your tunes are stored in multiple locations in North America, Japan, and Europe. SoundFolder was designed like this to ensure your music always streams really fast to listeners anywhere in the world. Stutter-free listening in London, Sydney, Chennai, anywhere with broadband. Even listen over 3G mobile networks!
- That's it, you're live! Listeners can hear your tunes at yourname.soundfolder.com, and you can start jamming on your next track. Upgrade to the Studio plan to get more storage time, sell music downloads, and publish your news & events.
You don't have to buy equipment or install any software to publish with SoundFolder, you just need your MP3s and an internet connection. Easy.
